First Day on the Road

Hello all from Granny, Emily, and Kim!

We had our very first day of adventures today, and boy did we have and adventure!

I'm sure you read from my earlier post that it was raining like crazy this morning when we left. Granny took that driving shift during the rain! It was raining so hard at one point that we couldn't see 10 yards in front of us. But we made it though and about an hour into our drive the rain finally lightened up. It stopped all together when we took a break for lunch.

After the rain stopped, we could actually take in our surroundings. We have all traveled in Pennsylvania and already knew about the vast crop fields and green mountains but it was still as beautiful as ever after that crazy rainstorm!

We also saw some amazing things on the road. We went through four tunnels; the Blue Mountain tunnel, the Tuscarora tunnel,  the Kittatinny tunnel, and the Allegheny tunnel. Granny drove through the first three and I got to drive through the last tunnel. It was the first time I ever drove through a mountain and let me tell you, it was something else!

In the car, we got a chance to talk about the blog and we thought that it would be fun if every day we posted a joke. Today's joke is...

          What state is a father?

If you want to find out the answer to our favorite joke today, take a look at our blog tomorrow!

Speaking of funny things...

While I was driving today we saw something really bizarre... A wall between the lanes of the turnpike. And it wasn't a whole wall, it was only a small section of a wall. Emily called it the Hogwarts wall because it was so magically random. But it was only odd until after we realized that it was part of an overpass that was in the process of being built!

And another funny event during our day happened while we took a bathroom and snack break at Sideling Hill. We were sitting at a table and I thought it would be a nice opportunity to snap some pictures. I got one of Emily and Granny and then Emily got one of me on the other side of the table.

If you notice, there is a boy behind me taking a HUGE bite of his piece of pizza. After Emily took this picture and we all noticed the guy in the background, we laughed and laughed right in the middle of that service plaza. We went in for Auntie Anne's and came out with a ton of laughs!!

After all of our adventures we settled down for the night in our hotel. But you'll get to hear more about our night tomorrow morning.

All in all, I think we've had a great day so far and I can't wait to get on the road tomorrow!! Hopefully I'll get to drive for more than 75 miles.

Haven't galloped out of PA yet...

Kim
