The Trip

For the bulk of my summer I worked in an office from nine to five and didn't have much of an opportunity to travel (except for a spectaular trip to Maine and Massachusettes which you can see here). So when Granny asked me about a trip to California, I jumped at the chance. I've only ever traveled up and down the Eastern shore and never crossed the Mississippi. It was an opportunity I couldn't pass up!

The trip was already in the works back in the beginning of this year but Granny, Emily, and I were just dreaming. Now, in July, we know just about everything we want to do and see and what roads we are going to be traveling on. We even got our cousin Brenda from Kentucky roped in!

Basically what we are going to do is gallop across the country in about 10 days in Granny's steed (a Honda Accord). We will be going through Pennslyvania, Ohio, West Virginia, Kentucky (to pick up Brenda), Tennessee, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and finally California where Granny's brother Paul will welcome us to the state he calls home. While we are in California with Uncle Paul, my mom, Amy will fly over to have a share in our gallavantin'. We plan to visit Hollywood, the Grand Canyon, and dip our toes in the Pacific Ocean. After some time in California, Amy, Emily, and I wil fly back home so we can be back in time for school.

During our travels you'll get to share in our gallivantin' too, if you wish. Granny had the idea to start a blog to document all our adventures together in the car, restaraunts, hotels, and attractions. I voulenteered to be "blog master" as everyone in the car needs a job (a post about our respective jobs and how fun they are will be one of the first!). I'll do the majority of the blogging during the trip, but you may be treated with a few posts signed by Emily or Brenda, or even the Gallivantin' Granny herslef!

We hope that you enjoy our trip as much as we will/are!

Happy Gallivantin'!

Kim
